The guiding principles of sustainability and a keen sensitivity to the fragility of the World’s environment, matters at every moment of our design, production, packaging, and future developments at Omega These principles not only reflect our deeply held personal commitment as a company, but follow the spirit, aspirations and real efforts made by so many of our customers. We strive to keep our carbon emissions as low as possible, and reach for recycled and recyclable material - looking to the ideal of a future-forward circular economy we can all invest in. The local and Global commitment we have made in fighting the depletion of virgin resources, combating pollution and above all, in doing no harm, has made us vigilant.
When developing our product, we were determined to reduce the impact our finished, packaged products at Omega had on the environment. This ensures full material-recycling rather than standard thermal-recycling (burning). Our finished, robust product pouch is a fully recyclable 2-layer PE Doy. This is a two-part composite, which disposed of correctly, can be fully recycled into fresh, new products. Our outer packaging is a fully recyclable cardboard carton. We are in the process of developing a fully compostable pouch with our current supply chain. All our tertiary packaging is also fully recyclable. These choices allow our customers to effortlessly engage with the green waste-streams of recycling and composting as they use our products.
To support our environmental ethos wherever possible, we always look to suppliers that are committed to tangible, sustainability projects that help reduce the impact on the environment. Almost 60% of our raw material suppliers have committed to enriching, sustainability projects at an individual or business group level, encompassing carbon neutral production targets, energy conservation, waste reduction, environmental awareness programmes, ethical sourcing and the use of sustainable raw materials. Wherever possible we will always strive to source our raw materials locally and nationally from trusted suppliers who share this vital ethos.
At Omega we have discovered the joy of co-operative, local efforts with a resonating, planetary impact. Trees convert carbon dioxide back into life-giving oxygen, so with that in mind we have participated in tree planting activities over the past 5 years in Carriagaline, Co. Cork. This has proven to be such a positive program with immediate results for the air we breathe and the amenities for the residents of these areas, we intend to develop this element of our environmental efforts in the future. The company has also donated over €16,000 to charitable, community-based organisations. Sustainability and people are at the heart of what we do, and as a team at Omega, we are proud to keep faith with our community, our customers, and the Planet.
